Keeping Ants At Bay

ANT infestation in the home is a common and annoying occurrence. The kitchen is one of the hardest places hit by ant invasion. Through some ants are not harmful to those living in the house, their presence is a real burden as far as keeping the kitchen tidy for food preparation is concerned.
Ants find entry into homes through various ways. A common point of entry is the branches of trees, which brush against the houses. While there are some ideas that can be tried to remove ants from homes, the best way to deal with them is to prevent them from entering in the first place.
The truth is that ants invade the kitchen because that is where the food is stored. There is the need to eliminate the ants’ access to food in the kitchen. All food should be kept in airtight containers and any crumbs or spills should be promptly cleaned. It is a good idea to read to regularly sweep the kitchen to remove crumbs and keep food bowls clean.
Those looking to avoid the use of heavy toxic chemicals may find that borax is a suitable and effective alternative pesticide.
Borax is a laundry detergent that contains boric acid in an unrefined form. Look at where the ants are entering the colony and sprinkle all the entryways with borax. Also place borax around common points of entry such as window castings, plumbing outlets and overhead wires. Wash hands when you are done.
Destroy immediately any anthill or mound seen around in the house. One simple effective way to do this is to pour boiling water on it.
Use baby powder on ants to keep them away. The key is to sprinkle baby powder on ants wherever you find them. Lavender, one of the main components of baby powder, makes it effective in removing ants.
